BUVAD’s LAUNCH OF FRUIT TREE PLANTING IN KAYUNGA DISTRICT

As we commemorate the Butakoola Village Association for Development (BUVAD) founding day of 11th May every year., BUVAD in this year 2022 celebrating with a launch of its Plant a Fruit Tree and Save a Life Project.

“The best time to plant a tree is twenty years ago. The second-best time is now.” At Butakoola village Association for Development planting trees is part of who we are, we want to see a changed environment and growing economy of Kayunga District in Uganda.

The increased change of climate in Kayunga district of Uganda has largely affected the social economic life in the district. It has led to floods, drought and lack of enough food which has increased malnutrition in children, pregnant mothers and the elderly. It has also led to death of animals on the grazing fields due to lack of water to drink and grass to eat.

“A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land Uganda, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.”

In this, BUVAD has come up to start the fruit tree planting project in hope for a healthy environment in the future of Kayunga District.

Apart from providing you with the sheer joy of picking out fresh fruit without stepping out of your home, fruit trees contribute to a healthy ecosystem. Fruit trees sequestrate carbon dioxide from the space and produce fresh oxygen, giving you and your family cleaner air to breathe, as well as encouraging wildlife to flourish. The fruits and timber from these trees are an income generating project for the household.

BUVAD welcomes well-wishers, partners(GIZ-CUSP, Minga Foundation, Global Green grants), promoters and supporters on board in all capacities to get involved and support this on-going project of Plant a Fruit Tree and Save a Life Project, by BUVAD in Kayunga District of Uganda.
