Women Economic Empowerment

BUVAD implements a Women Microloan support towards the women development coop. A group named “Get Together Women’s Development Initiative” was created with a pioneer number of 13 women beneficiaries.

20 more women members have joined in and received small quite low-interest loans that they use to boost their income-generating activities like; making mats, baskets, beer brewing and vending, operating small kiosks, retail shops, rearing chicken, rearing pigs, purchasing grafted fruits tree seedlings varieties to grow in their gardens and other cash crops growing.

The main goal of this project is to boost the women’s incomes as the mothers in the houses and key custodians of homes. Women have had a chance to export a few of their crafts to outside countries through BUVAD and are on the lookout for potential markets to help these women export their products to these markets. We are also looking for potential partners to promote micro- loaning within this organized group of women.

Women hold regular meetings together with educational tours to each other’s’ projects, sharing about their projects’ performance and how they could be advanced. We also hope to train these women further in choosing the right contraception methods towards proper family planning.

BUVAD is committed to having the biggest possible impact, for everyone in Kayunga region, Uganda »
