Registration No: 8563 and File No: S.5914/8930, which started its Nonprofit activities way back in 2000.

Butakoola Village Association for Development (BUVAD) is a not for profit organization Registration No: 8563 and File No: S.5914/8930, which started its Nonprofit activities way back in 2000, got registered under the Gender and Culture Department of Kayunga District in Uganda (E.A) as a Community Based Organization (CBO) operational in Kayunga Sub County in 2006 and was approved by the NGO board of Uganda as a Non-Governmental Organization operational in Kayunga District, since May 2011. BUVAD is among the few local nonprofits that are intervening to help government in improving the lives of the people of Kayunga.

About BUVAD Project Area

Kayunga District is located in remote central Uganda and has a total population of 358,700 people, of which 174,751 are male and 183,949 are female. 334,667 (93.3%) people of the District population dwell in rural areas (2014 population census). BUVAD was successfully validated by the NGO Bureau in Uganda and operates with a valid NGO license. It has also signed a memorandum of understanding with Kayunga District which puts BUVAD in the limelight to operate with legal back up.

The governing bodies of BUVAD are The General Assembly (GA) and The Board of Governors (BOG)

The General Assembly (GA)

The General Assembly is the supreme governing body of BUVAD which gathers regularly – once per year and some times Extraordinary – on the initiative of the BOG or its Chairperson or if so requested in writing by 1/3 of the members of BUVAD.

The Governing Board (BOG)

The Board of Governors is composed of 5 members – Board Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and a Member/Secretary for Development. The GA elects the BOG for a fiscal period of 5 years. The BOG discusses and passes resolutions on all issues, concerning the activity of the Organization. The BOG holds its meetings at least once per 6 months.
